Centres of action at FAC 2009 were the Hospitality Suite and Creative Play Station. In the large and brightly lit Suite on the second floor of the Residence Building, you have a comfortable spot to meet other delegates and relax over a cup of tea and a snack.
For those from out of town this will be a good place to get information to help you find your way around the Algonquin College campus, and information on local suppliers of doll making materials as well as local tourist attractions and events. There will be copies of maps of Algonquin campus and the Ottawa region available, as well.
If you feel like creating while you chat and enjoy a break, there will be pin dolls and materials for small pieces of handwork you might like to work on.
The Creative Play Station, where there will be more opportunities to play on Friday and Saturday evenings, will be located in an alcove just off the Hospitality Suite. There will be lots of opportunities to experiment with new materials and techniques. There is no need to register for these activities, just drop in.
For those delegates staying in Residence we have a few suggestions to offer for your comfort and convenience. The Residence Suites are not equipped with hair dryers, kettles or alarm clocks (they do have wake-up calls, however), so you might want to bring these things. Since the ballroom where we will run our Learning Circles is in a separate building, you may want to bring a pair of comfortable shoes and, perhaps, a carrier with wheels if you decide to bring a sewing machine, a large stash or other heavy items. Each Suite has a microwave, refrigerator, table and two chairs, and a private three piece bath.
If you wish to share a suite with another delegate (don’t forget that for $90.34, taxes included, each Suite has two separate bedrooms), check off the appropriate box on your Accommodation Registration Form. If you don’t already have a “suite mate”, we will be happy to match you up with another attendee who wants to share.
